De Harlem Renaissance was een culturele, sociale en artistieke explosie die in de jaren 1920 en 1930 in Harlem plaatsvond en de grenzen van creatieve zelfexpressie naar nieuwe en opwindende hoogten stuwde.

Onze eigen originele illustraties op de mok brengen hulde aan de muzikanten, kunstenaars en lichtend voorbeelden die deze bloeiende beweging hielpen opbouwen. Afgebeeld zijn Duke Ellington aan de piano, zangeres Billie Holiday met haar kenmerkende gardenia achter haar oor, Dizzy Gillespie met zijn trompet, Josephine Baker in haar beruchte bananenrok, schrijver Langston Hughes stijlvol in zijn fedora, Cab Calloway als bandleider met hoge hoed en flappermeisjes in de iconische en legendarische Savoy Ballroom.
